Snow please...

I want it to snowww. It is SO cold here, and my room is the coldest in the house as its the biggest. On the plus side, it will give me an excuse to wear my leopard print coat from New Look. I know a lot of people have it, but its just...great, and very cozy! That makes my coat collection up to 10...humm, may have to sell some on ebay soon. I also got a lovely deep red velvet dress from the same place today too- not bad when I'm meant to be writing an essay for Tuesday.

Anyway, talking of work, here are some photographs from the excavation I was involved in during the summer of 2009. To graduate we have to complete 4 weeks of field work at the end of our first year. The dig seems so long ago! It was fun, but I don't think I'm cut out for digging, I'm more of a 'research archaeologist'- in a warm room with books and tea! We had a great month at Tidegrove Warren Farm, near Basingstoke, apart from the awful tea quality. I'm blogging about this as I wanted my blog not just to be about fashion etc, as many blogs are, but to show what my degree is about and what I want out of it, after all, it is what is hopefully going to get me a job (although I am not counting on this). The site was a Romano-British farmstead with a Medieval settlement close by, sadly Indiana Jones did not make an appearance, as I am quite partial to a bit of Harrison Ford. Sigh.

Fox bones

Mixed bone, pottery and stone artefacts

The errm...wonderful tea facilities

The plan two of us drew in 3 days, of every little bit of stone and flint. Brilliant use of mugs.

Our cross-section trench on solid chalk

Excavation of a wall
I didn't get a lot of pictures, mainly because I was in that trench for 3 weeks. Seriously. And when you were in it you were below ground level- getting out was a little insane...
Hope you enjoyed this little snap shot of what I get up to on my course, now I have to write 2000 words on Bronze Age hoards. Joy.

November flu...Boo.

I didn't escape. Cue copious amounts of sniffing, sinex and cups of tea. On the plus side, I get to stay in bed and stalk wonderful things on ebay. Hello camel coloured jumper, oversize cardigans, leopard print t-shirts and silicone baking dishes (don't ask), hello decreased bank balance. Sigh.

At least I have my birthday trip to London and the British Museum's Egyptian Book of the Dead exhibition to look forward to. I am such an Archaeology student. Haaa.

Hipstamatic

I got the Hipstamatic photo app for my phone, its pretty cool, here are some experimental pics. I also am getting my proper camera for Christmas!!! Yayyyyy!

Anyway, please excuse the posing.....

The app is good, I LOVE the effects, hope they feature on normal cameras, but I don't so much like how you have to buy 'package upgrades' to improve on the app...RIP OFF. Anyway, the features you get the first time you buy it are good anyway, and I don't think I'll be needing the upgrades, unless I find out that they're necessary...

snap.

Fuji Finepix S1500. Hello Christmas present!

I have wanted a camera for AGESSSS. I hate re-using pictures taken by other people, although its ok to do it sometimes, I really want to take my own pictures and make my blog a little more 'me'.
I'm also on the hunt for a polaroid instant camera- they don't seem to exist, even on ebay. Sigh. Maybe I'll go and get a disposable camera, the effect they can give pictures is sometimes pretty cool. Until then, I'll have to make do with my iPhone, for such a good phone (and the price...) you'd think they'd have put in a half decent camera. Grrr. Rant. etc...
Anyway, I was in the pub with a group of friends last night, and one of them had brought along a camera like the one above. After squeaking over it for a while, I finally got round to asking him where he got it/how much etc. £105. Not bad. After some google-ing today to recover from the hangover I discovered that Fuji have a refurbishment part to their online store. A bit like mac do. WIN. This baby above is £89.99. Get in there. I don't think the parents will begrudge that price, as new, these go for £150+. Yikes. Christmas present sorted.

things.

New dress from Zara- adorable print! It'll go with black tights, brown brogues and a thick cable cardigan perfectly. Sadly I am still on a hunt for the cardigan. New Look had the perfect one the other day, but it wasn't in the shop, and had done a disappearing act from the website. Curious...
Anyway, here are some things that I've seen and liked:
