hiatus

Sorry little web space, I really have been crap at updating you, and it was one of my new year's resolutions...utter fail! I hear Google Reader is being axed, so I'm guessing GFC will be making a disappearance pretty soon too. If you have been enjoying my sporadic posts then please hit the Bloglovin' button and continue to follow me, it would mean a lot :)

Anyway, I'm sorry for my absence, lately I've been enjoying reading other people's blogs instead of focusing on my own. I think the direction of mine is not really going where I want it too- I'm not sure it really reflects me if that makes sense? I have a few ideas about some improvements, so maybe stay tuned and they might appear at a future stage (if I actually do something, then I have to 100% want to do it).

For now, I'll continue to enjoy gathering inspiration from fellow bloggers and corners of the Internet and drinking my own body weight in tea.

 See you around.

snow day

Pictures taken on Dartmoor last Monday, there was so much snow compared to where my house is! I had great fun finding bird tracks, snapping icicles and getting some nice landscape shots (not mentioning falling down a steep snow slope ahem...).

Winter Walk

A few pictures of my walk today, which had to be cut short as it was so cold and I discovered that Vans are no good in snow... We didn't get hardly any snow where I live, this walk is about 10 miles from my town where there was a lot more of the white stuff! On my walk I spotted a really cool carved stone on a little island in the river, plus some interesting shapes in an icy puddle. The rest of my day is going to consist of drinking hot tea/chocolate, and making a list of entomology books to read. There was ice inside my car today, so a set of new door seals are required, poor little mini.

In other news, I went to my first ever Zumba class on Friday, it was much more fun than I expected and I'm looking forward to this Friday's class. On Saturday I am hopefully meeting Adam in Lyme Regis for lunch and antique hunting! I will be on the lookout for some more original Penguin books to add to my stash along with a fur coat. I need one in this weather!

Oxford Comma

As promised, here is my little post about my trip to see Lucy in Oxford, I only got back this afternoon and I've been enjoying looking at the pictures I snapped. Oxford is a beautiful city, full of amazing architecture and gorgeous little shops, we went to the most amazing vintage shop where I bought a lovely cardigan and a cool gift for Adam- I could have taken half of the shop home with me if funds allowed, the wall of fur coats was particularly interesting! We shopped, drank lots of tea, went out to some amazing pubs including a converted church which is now a cocktail bar, and played scrabble in another pub yesterday evening. We also walked to and from a lovely pub in Wyvern where we had an amazing lunch with free pudding! On the way home you go past loads of huge lovely houses, I want to live in one! If you haven't been there then I can thourghly recommend it, I will definitely be going back!

My Return!

After a pretty long absence I have returned to blogging! My internet refused to work for nearly two months and only last week were we sent a new wireless box. Now it's up and running and I've got round to checking about 15 pages of emails I decided it was about time I paid my little space on the web some attention.

So Christmas and New Year got bypassed, I had an indulgent and wonderfully relaxing time and now it's back to work (sob). My brother returned from a month in Australia (see picture above, lucky!) and we gained a cat! Chunky lives up to his name (massive and very fluffy) and it's lovely to have a pet again, despite his love of eating and chasing a toy mouse around at night!

I celebrated our four year anniversary with Adam and tried an oyster for the first (and definitely last) time, and next Saturday I am finally going to visit my friend Lucy in Oxford for some much needed vintage shopping, tea and gossiping!

That's kind of my update done, I also stopped going to slimming world after losing two stone. It felt like the right choice, and although since leaving I may have gained a little weight (only 4lbs which I am quite pleased with) I feel confident that I can keep it off long term! Christmas calories may have caught up with me, but you have to live a little yes?!

I am sure I will be back very soon, vintage hunting will hopefully turn up something blog worthy! I would love to share my York holiday film photos but I no longer have a scanner :(

Back soon!

Halloween: Pumpkin carving!

I spent this afternoon carving my pumpkin for Halloween, one of my favourite times of year! My pumpkin is a bit wonky and leans to one side, but I like to think it adds to the creepy effect. This design is so easy to do, I drew it on with a board marker and then cut carefully around it with a sharp knife. I added a red tea light inside for some extra spooky glow! We are using his insides for a Moroccan tagine recipe tonight, yum! Although I'm not planning to go out trick or treating, we always put a pumpkin in the window and give out sweets to the kids that come round. I miss being at Uni at this time of year and going on zombie pub crawls, making a trip to Primark for a cheap t-shirt, then customising it with scissors and loads of fake blood. Drunk zombies are hilarious!

Happy Halloween!

Holiday to York!

Lovely old streets, our hotel room with a four poster, the castle, heaven in shop form, before dinner outfit, the Shambles, view from the very top of the Minster (eek!), the University's Archaeology building.

A few photographs from our week away, with more to follow providing my film develops ok! Very much considering going to do my MA course here in the very near future, it's safe to say I've fallen in love with this city and could see myself living here quite happily! A Mulberry and a Barbour shop- what more could I need?
